HOW TO GROW WORMWOOD, ABSINTHE
Start indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost, transplant out after frost. Direct sow in sandy soil in autumn when seeds are ripe. Sow thinly, strong germinator. Drought and nutritionally poor soil tolerant. Easily propagated by division. Inhibits growth of fennel, sage, caraway, anise and most young plants especially in wet years. Good companion for carrots for root fly. Leaves and tops harvested in July and August. In the winter cut back to 1” to encourage new growth. Seeds require light to germinate, press into soil, do not cover. Not for sale to Washington or South Dakota. Soil pH 4.8-8.2. Hardiness zones 3-9. Perennial.
