The true Johnny Jump-Up. Beautiful tri-color perennial. Violas bloom in cool weather of spring and fall. We use as a permaculture and bulb ground cover in our perennial beds because the flowers are edible, it is low growing to 5–7”, clumping keeps out other weeds, it politely self-sows plus supports beneficial insects. In mild climates may bloom through the winter and overwinter dormant in climates as cold as USDA zone 4. It has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit. Also considered a medicinal herb, the Wild Pansy herb was used to treat skin conditions and is found growing in many herb gardens. Perennial often grown as an annual.
